It is an unbiased, physically based path tracer that produces photoreal images with gorgeous light, glass, and material accuracy. But Octane also carries one hard rule that decides your entire build before you spend a single Naira: it runs on NVIDIA only. Get that wrong and no amount of money fixes it.

Why Octane is NVIDIA-only (and why that matters)
Octane is built on NVIDIA's CUDA platform and accelerates ray tracing through OptiX and the dedicated RT cores found on RTX cards. There is no AMD or Intel path. If you buy a Radeon GPU, Octane simply will not run on it. Octane is a GPU renderer, which means your entire scene — geometry, textures, and the rendering data — needs to live in graphics memory. If a scene does not fit in VRAM, you hit a wall. Octane does offer out-of-core support, which can spill textures and some geometry into system RAM when the GPU runs short, and that genuinely saves renders. Multi-GPU: Octane's superpower

Octane renders on the GPU, but Cinema 4D itself leans on the CPU for the viewport, MoGraph cloners and effectors, simulations, and scene playback. A weak CPU makes the whole app feel sluggish even when your render times are fast.
- CPU — a strong modern multi-core chip (think a capable 8 to 16 core part) keeps MoGraph, sims, and the viewport responsive.
